Production flow analysis

A tool for redesigning production flows

Purpose of routing analysis

From a workshop layout perspective, the logical flow analysis aims at understanding the physical flow of articles from manufacturing routings, global data on the quantities of items to be produced, and information on the workstations. This preliminary step allows to orient the design of the physical layout of the production resources which will consider the geometrical and spatial data of the resources and the buildings.

Main features of the module

  • Joint search for product groups and work centers

  • Representation of the flows induced by the routings by graphs

  • Representation of the "spaghetti diagram”

  • earch for flow shop structures »

  • Import of data in Excel format.

For more information, please refer to the documentation of this module

Complementary modules

Routing analysis provides logical structures of flows represented by means of graphs. This logical structure makes it possible to imagine physical layout structures that can be produced and visualized using other modules and functions (see next sections). These complementary modules also allow the representation of the initial layout if it exists as well as a spaghetti diagram of the flows.

The "Blueprint Editor" module is a 2D interface allowing a 2D representation to scale by positioning the key elements of the building (doors, walls, windows) and the silhouettes of the workstations and machines. This 2D representation can be exported to retrieve data related to the geometry of the production system and to visualize the structure in 3D and in virtual reality using the Ergonom.io module.

The files can also be exported for use with static flow analysis and layout tools such as VisTable® or dynamic flow simulation tools such as Witness® Plant Simulation.
